Our Event Space

The Wandering Lantern offers a warm, literary atmosphere that brings a unique charm to any celebration. Our thoughtfully curated space provides the perfect backdrop for creating lasting memories with family and friends.

Capacity

Comfortable for about 30 seated guests, or up to 50 for events with a mix of seating and standing. Final capacity depends on layout and activities.

Availability

Always private during non-business hours. During store hours, we offer semi-private events separated from the shop with elegant curtains, or fully private with a store buyout.

Duration

Events are typically booked in 2-hour blocks, with the option to extend for larger groups or events that need more time.

The Secret Garden

Space (+ story if desired)

A flexible, private use of our event space for your group to gather and celebrate. Includes access to tables and chairs, with the option to use our existing cozy furniture or arrange the room to fit your needs. You're welcome to bring your own food, cake, decorations, and activities, and handle setup and cleanup.

Optional: Staff-led story time may be added at no cost when available.

Mad Hatter's Tea Party

Story + Activity

Everything in the Basic Gathering, plus a guided story time and a simple creative activity. This option is great for groups looking for a little structure and engagement, without needing to plan every detail themselves. Craft activities are designed to be approachable and age-appropriate, with details discussed ahead of time based on group size and needs.

The Royal Ball

Fully Hosted

Our most complete option. Includes private use of the space, guided story time, a facilitated craft activity, light snacks, and full setup and cleanup handled by our team. This is a relaxed, turnkey experience where families can show up, enjoy the moment, and leave the details to us.

Can I bring my own food and drinks?

Yes! You're welcome to bring your own catering, food, and non-alcoholic beverages. We can provide recommendations for local caterers if needed.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking at least 4-6 weeks in advance, especially for weekend dates. However, we'll do our best to accommodate last-minute requests based on availability.

Can I decorate the space?

Absolutely! We encourage you to personalize the space. We just ask that decorations be easy to remove and don't damage walls or bookshelves (no nails, tape that might pull paint, etc.).

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation policies will be outlined in your rental agreement. We understand that plans change and will work with you to find a solution.

Are books available for purchase during my event?

Yes! We can arrange for a small selection of age-appropriate books to be available for browsing and purchase during your event - perfect for party favors or gifts.

What's included in the craft activities?

For our Mad Hatter's Tea Party and Royal Ball packages, craft activities are simple, age-appropriate projects designed to complement your event theme. We provide all materials and guidance. Activities are confirmed ahead of time based on your group's age range and interests.

How does pricing work?

Pricing varies based on the package you choose, group size, day of week, and time of day. When you submit an inquiry, we'll provide transparent pricing tailored to your specific event needs. There are no hidden fees.

Can I visit the space before booking?

Absolutely! We encourage you to visit during our regular business hours to see the space and ask questions. You're also welcome to schedule a brief walkthrough if you'd like to discuss your event in person.

What if I'm not sure which package fits my event?

That's completely normal! Many guests aren't sure initially. When you reach out, we'll talk through what you're envisioning and help you choose the package that fits best. You can also mix and match elements to create something custom.

Do you host adult events or just children's parties?

We welcome both! While we specialize in family-friendly celebrations, our space is perfect for adult book clubs, showers, small meetings, and intimate gatherings. The literary atmosphere appeals to all ages.

What happens if my guest count changes?

We understand that RSVPs can be unpredictable! Let us know as soon as possible if your numbers change significantly. We'll work with you to adjust seating, activities, and any catering arrangements. Minor fluctuations are completely normal and expected.
